Where the OLM file stores in different editions of Mac OS?

All the editions of Mac OS are as written below, stores Mac Outlook 2011 OLM files into the same location on every Mac OS editions.

Default Location of .OLM database file

The default location of .OLM database is same as in all editions of Mac OS:

• ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Main Identity/Database
• ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Main Identity/Data Records

Note:

• /Database: It stores only the indexes in the database file
• /Data Records: Stores data records (individual emails) in a series of files within folder to sub-folders

What is an OLM File?

OLM is a file extension used in Outlook 2011 email client to storing complete database of MS-Outlook 2011 (such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Task and Notes data) for Macintosh OS (saved in Outlook archive.olm format) and it could not be opened by any other email clients or OS, except for Mac OS.

Types of OLM file?

There are basically two kinds of OLM files are available on Mac Outlook 2011 email application

• Outlook archive.olm
• .OLM

Outlook archive.olm can’t be export directly to other applications, and the .OLM file is stores and manage Mac Outlook 2011 database in .olm file format and it is easy to export to other formats with external utilities. And an .OLM files database is saved into a sequencing order as OT (Outlook Trillion), OB (Billion), OM (Million), OK (Thousand) with sub folder as by different default names with different file extensions.

1. To import EML files on Thunderbird for new mails in a new folder, firstly you have to Open Thunderbird application and then by right clicking on “Inbox” folder you have to click on “New Sub folder…” Option.
